Introduction of Acacia Catechu

Aliases: Baby Tea, Black Tea, Oodala Mud.

Distribution: Naturally distributed in southern Yunnan, cultivated on Hainan Island.

Source: The dried decoction of the peeled branches and stems of the legume Albizia catechu. In winter, the branches and stems are harvested, the outer skin is removed, cut into large pieces, boiled with water, concentrated and dried.

Appearance: This product is square or irregular blocky with different sizes. The surface is tan or dark brown, smooth and slightly shiny.

Preparation: Remove impurities. Break when used.

Chemical composition: catechins, epicatechins, catechin tannic acid, catechols, quercetin, etc.

Pharmacology of Catechu

Catechin aqueous solution can inhibit the peristalsis of the duodenum and small intestine, and can promote the reverse peristalsis of the cecum, thereby achieve the anti-diarrhea effect.

Catechin has a strong effect on killing ascites cancer cells in vitro.

Catechin decoction has inhibitory effect on all of Staphylococcus aureus, Diphtheria, Proteus, Freundiensis and Typhoid Bacillus, and the same to common therapeutic skin fungi.
